It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

That it took as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to deliver her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fail again.

Whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Many contend the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this innings followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in training, it was a frustrating experience because I feel like I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive nature kick in and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the batsman was in motion.

"The possibility to go out there and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

By the time she was out the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this World Cup want to hear.

In recent days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this success coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wished she had played through the pain.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as leader.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
